Kristen H. Gennett, LCSW
“Developing a therapeutic relationship with clients and helping them form healthier relationships with themselves and the people they share their lives with has been the most rewarding aspect of my job. What a unique opportunity it is to help people discover their strengths, heal old wounds and learn new skills which enrich their lives.”
Kristen, her husband and son relocated to Central Pennsylvania from Richmond, Virginia in May of 2005. Having grown up in nearby Western Pennsylvania, the move felt like coming home.
Kristen received a Bachelor of Social Work from St. Francis University in Loretto, Pennsylvania in 1992. She went on to earn a Master of Social Work from Marywood University in Scranton, Pennsylvania in 1994. For the next few years she assisted children with behavioral and emotional problems at Friendship House in Scranton, Pennsylvania, as part of a Family Preservation Unit through Alternative Community Resources in Johnstown, Pennsylvania and as a Behavioral Specialist for Northwestern Human Services in Cambria and Somerset counties. During this time she began a private practice and worked as an Employee Assistance Program counselor on the United States Postal Service contract with Magellan Behavioral Health.
In 1998 she and her husband relocated to Richmond, Virginia where she continued working with postal employees and their families through Magellan. Their son was born in 2002 and shortly after she decided to take a hiatus and stay at home to raise him.
Shortly after returning to Pennsylvania she felt the time was right to continue with her career. Kristen welcomed the opportunity to join Franco Psychological Associates in April of 2006. She works with children, adult, couples, and families. She has a strong interest in the treatment of anxiety, depression, interpersonal problems, and helping people improve their parenting skills. In her free time Kristen enjoys traveling and spending time with family and friends.
